Suamico science project gets White House’s attention

A science project created by teachers and students at Suamico Elementary School was featured at the White House.

Their re-creation of the solar system using robotic spheres will highlight “White House Astronomy Night.”

Learning about the rotation and revolution of our solar system is part of the 3rd grade curriculum each year at Suamico Elementary School.

“And we’ve always done that with models, there’s a big sun and all the planets and they’re using the model to rotate the planets, or we’d use pieces of paper,” says principal Ryan Welnetz.

Last spring, the school created a new lesson plan, using Sphero programmable robots, controlled by the students iPads.
